There really hasn’t been a whole lot going on since Kevin’s parents left. The week of leave Kevin had off went by too fast. I could have sworn it was only a day long, instead of the week!
I have started getting school folders and such ready for the start of school. I know I still have 3 weeks till school starts, but at least they are ready. Today I plan on heading by the schools and seeing what info I can get on the kids and teachers. Derric has been asking (more like begging) to go back to school.

Fitness, Fitness, and More Fitness…. With other stuff too

Over the weekend, I saw the BX had a new fitness game for the Wii. (I was looking for the My Fitness Coach, which was there the week prier) So I picked it up. It was the Gold’s Gym Cardio game. I did some reviews on it, and thought it looked pretty interesting, so I picked it up. Not a bad little game. Deffinatly more of a rounded workout, and not one that wants you to be able to pull off a push-up WITH a sideplank right a way.. Don’t get me wrong, I am still fully inlove with the WiiFit, but most of the stuff in the strength training section I sware is for people who are already fit! So I will be mixing the Gold’s Gym Cardio in with the WiiFit.
Of course there is also another new one out I want! EA Sports Active! It took the WiiFit to a whole new level! The reviews on that thing are amazing! And it looks more beginner friendly… I just need to be able to afford $60 to buy it! UGH.
So I did the Gold’s Gym workout yesterday. Some of it I couldn’t do. (push-ups anyone) Some of it I could do for half the time (abdominal, reverse crunch), and some of it hurt like hell. But I was sweating, I couldn’t move much afterwords, and so, I went for a walk around the base! LOL. Of course I am trying to get the Nike+ sensor to work, but so far, no luck. Really getting annoyed with that! I mean come on! A second one not working either?? I was really hoping it would work, since I want to walk in the mornings, and have a way to record it, but I just don’t get why it wont work. Starting to really piss me off.
I need to be working on cleaning my office. I bought a few bins to store papers and kids’ crafts in, but so far, they are stacked and I haven’t touched anything. My office needs a good cleaning, I might work on that today. I need to get it done before the in-laws get here. I don’t think I would live down that visit if the office wasn’t clean! Also need to see about getting rid of the elliptical. Found I just don’t like doing the elliptical at home. Not sure what it is, but everytime I get one ours, I don’t a third as long as I do at the gym. I think if I had an actual gym room, with a tredmill, stair stepper, and the elliptical, I would do better, but I don’t and I suck when I am at home.
Well, time to get kids up so they can start their day. Have a great Tuesday all.

What a Day…

Memorial Weekend was pretty good. Nothing much really happened.
Kevin and I played EQ2, kids played outside, and we all got some cleaning done. On Monday we had a nice BBQ, and the kids played at the park with water guns. There was more EQ2.
This morning was off, but then with Kevin’s schedule change, it is odd sleeping in now. I think I am used to waking up at 4 to get him going (after all, I woke up at 4 this morning with no alarm….). Got Kevin off to work, and walked the kids over to school. Only had a minor melt down with Derric, the dryer wasn’t done, so non of his shirts were dry. Normally he just takes one of Dokota’s and calls it good, but today, he threw a fit. Dokota had gotten him one of his on the smaller side shirts, but still, Derric just refused to wear it. With a promise of him taking it off when he gets home, we were finally good.
Once I got home, I cleaned the living room up (again) and got to work on my WiiFit. Yhea, I hurt. Today I did the Free Steps, I didn’t watch tv, mostly since I wanted to see what it was all about first. Tomorrow I might. I did the pace run, which I really don’t like. I think mostly because when I put the remote in my pocket, it doesn’t really read it well, and it kept changing my pace, even though I was moving the same. I ended up not really running just to keep the thing from yelling at me. After aerobics, I tried to do the strength training, push ups with side plank, and realize, I really suck at it! Mostly since I DON’T move at the same pace the “trainer” does… So I was getting yelled at because I wasn’t keeping pace with the machine.. After that, I decided on a little yoga, and moved to the Sun pose. My balance was way off, so I failed that, even thou if you ask my body, I did it right lol.
Yhea, it was time to call it quits.
I grabed two bags of 100 Calorie snack packs and headed to my computer. I got to work on the family website, did a lot of changes. Stop by and let me know what you think. In case you never went to the family site before and want to know what was changed; I changed the kids’ page, got a really nice picture of all 4 kids, thanks to the elementary school holding a family/sibling photo shoot day. Then I linked their individual pages. These were also changed. Before, you had to go to the education page to see report cards, now I linked their report cards to their individual pages. Before, the only thing on the individual pages were their pictures, now it has school stuff… Personally, I like this better.
After I got the family site how I wanted it, I headed up to the BX. I needed a few things and I wanted to just roam.
I found nice water bottles for the kids for this summer. Got a Dr. Pepper, and had found they had restocked the Nike+ sensors. I picked one up and just about ran home to try it out. Soo excited. Until I got the thing in my shoe. For over an hour I walked and walked, and walked, trying to get the sensor to link to the iPod Touch. No such luck. So I returned it. Rather sad. I really hope to get a new one next month. I really want that sensor. I tried everything under the sun to get it to work. And it just wouldn’t.
Came home from returning the sensor and worked on adding my working out page to the blog. Nothing really on it but links to my sparkpage and extrapounds page. Also stats and my Nike+ badge for whenever I get a working sensor and can start working out with it…
Then it was time to pick up the munchkins, so off to the school I headed. Derric was taking his sweet time getting ready, but finally got him out the door. Headed to the main building, wanted to stop by the office to start looking into becoming a Special Ed assistant sub. But the lady in charge of that wasn’t in today, so time to just head back home. Now, here I am.

My Legs HURT!!

Posted on Tuesday 27 January 2009 at 11:24 pm
So, Kevin and I have been doing the Gym thing. It hasn’t been very steady, we happen to be trying to do this as he gets off work, I catch a shuttle over, and we hopefully can meet up to hit the gym, hard. It is hit or miss just how long he will end up staying at work, and it is kinda hit or miss if the shuttle will run on time. There have been days where, by the time we meet up, it is just too late in the day to bother. Like last week.
All last week, besides Tuesday, Kevin was getting out of work around 11am….. Not that big of a deal right? Well, it is when he normally gets out around 9:30, meets me at the BX Food Court, and we head to the gym…. By 11am, he is TIRED and I am Bored. So we just head home. That doesn’t help the exercise, but face it, I am a softy…. He worked all night, is staying up just to push me in the gym. Not going to see just how late I can keep him up.
So I didn’t think much of it when I started doing a couple of the machines where the weights felt a bit heavy, after all, I had a big break in time… Then, as we were signing out of the machines, me manually entering some of the data, Kevin has me look at past notes (I keep a work out notebook for easy look up of last weights for Kevin and me)…… He added 10 pounds to my last two machines!!! No wonder those calf raises felt a bit tighter and that abdominal REALLY HURT in the FIRST set… OH! But, as mad as I am that he sneaked 10 extra pounds on me on two machines…. I am slightly happy to know I could lift it, doesn’t stop it from hurting, but still slightly gratifying…
Off the work out topic.. How about some pictures?
The fog rolled in really thick the other night, and I wanted to play more with my no flash settings, so I headed out for a couple of pictures…
This first one is of the street lamp in front of my building…

This one is of the park across the street…

No, it is not on fire, it just happens to have two parking lot lights on behind it.
This one is the sun rising over the same park across the street…

Can you see the two parking lot lights better?

A New Toy and Work Outs

Posted on Wednesday 15 October 2008 at 8:47 am
Thing have been going pretty good around here… Not much really to talk about. The three day weekend did leave me thankful for the week again, but the shift in Kevin’s schedule is just enough to completely throw my mornings off….
Over the weekend, Kevin got me a new toy. He bought me a digital camcorder and I love it. I only seem to have one problem with it, it doesn’t save to the computer for upload. No, it backs up onto the computer in a format that non of my players will play, and trying to find software that will convert and compress has been difficult. The camcorder has an 80GB hard drive on it and it takes the mini SD cards. So it seems more designed for storing memories then sharing… So if anyone knows a good software that compresses MPEG files, please, please, please, send me the info! LOL.
I have a good chance to use the DVD feature this month, Kevin’s dad’s birthday will be in a couple weeks, and I want to create a message from the kids to mail him. I am just trying to think of a way to actually do this… Just having the kids sit infront of the camera to wish him a Happy Birthday would be way to short, so I need to come up with some ideas to make it a bit longer and special for him….
Not much else is really going on… Tuesday I got my FitLinks account set up at the base gym. Interesting program, really worked my muscles and I am sure sore today and I didn’t even do that much! FitLinks is a program for the military to track fitness of their active duty members. Spouses can have an account also, only our accounts wont be able to be accessed online like active duty accounts… Since I didn’t even know about that feature, it wasn’t too saddening to hear that, so I got my account set up. I did 40 minutes on a new form of elliptical that can do three forms of motions, it can act like stairs, short strides, or longer strides. It really is an interesting machine. Hit three target areas without changing machines… I LOVE it! BUT it isn’t in the FitLinks system yet so I could record it. After the “warm up” I headed in to do the Natialis weight machines. It was interesting working with the FitLinks system. Each machine I had to set my rang of motion and my sets/reps. It took me about 4 machines to get the hang of it… So the next time I go in, my info will be a bit off, but that is ok… I just like the tracking it will do!
The hardest part of the FitLinks is that it has a timer for each motion you do. If you do it too fast, it yells at you, too slow it gets onto you. So learning to stay in its set time really was a work out on its own. On one machine (that works the arms), you had to do one rep in 3 seconds…. Normally I am in the middle of my second rep by the three second mark, so really holding the weight added another workout. My arms sure can feel it today, and I didn’t even do a huge amount. So I really think this FitLinks will help in the longer run….
Today, since I am sore in both legs and arms, plus my back is killing me, I think I am going to rest today, then tomorrow pick my legs, and leave Friday for my arms again.. Seperate what I work on, and then when I have a full week to work out, just see about going Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays… But that is a plan for another day… Today, I just want to rest, try and do laundry, and maybe get a little knitting done.
