    Mobile Addition

    I have gone MOBILE!

Actually, the blog has gone mobile.

I just added the Mobile Plug-in, which allows me to view the website, edit, and comment all on a mobile device. So any of my bloggy friends that use mobile devices, let me know if my site is not viewable in mobile format, and I can see about getting it added.

In other news, not much has been going on besides attitudes and fights. But that is all for another entry.

For this entry, I want to just write about something I have noticed Derric doing lately. …

See, Derric will pull at his finger nails until one splits, and he can pull it up. Like a partially cut off nail. He than, when flustered, will flick the loose nail next to his ear.

    Example.

Kauchana is collecting boxes for her big project, a Museum of Me. She collected a good sized box and Derric kept wanting to climb in and play in it. I told him no, but he wouldn’t stop, so I snapped at him. Mostly because he hasn’t been listening all day, and partly because I was doing other things, and maneuvering around the other kids. So I snapped and told him to stop.

He backed off and started flicking his loose nail. He stayed there for a few minutes just listening to his nail flick.

He has been doing this a lot lately. I tend to cut the loose nail once I see it, and he never liked that. Sometimes he would come up to me to have me cut a nail, but mostly he keeps them loose and flicks them.

He has also started to chew really bad. He chewed a bit during the winter last year, actually chewing the zipper from his winter jacket. So his sensory therapist got him a chew tube. Once they came in, he had stopped chewing as much and wasn’t interested in the chew tubes. The one that came home with him last year got put away and forgotten. A week before school, while I was cleaning and reorganizing things, he had found it and started chewing it. It has gone to school with him pretty much everyday for the past three weeks. We have two, both were at school, until Open House, then they both came home for some reason. One got missed place, so we are back down to one, and that is getting worn out. They were supposed to be good for several months of chewing, and in one month, he has it almost ready to break.

I am also trying to figure out how to get him to do his homework and still fit in a nap. Today he got his first homework packet. Complete with what worksheet to do on what day.

I had him sit down and work on writing his spelling words. He kept whining and writing all over the place. He insisted that the letter “t” looked like a 6 with a line through it. He knows that is not how the letters are written, but he wouldn’t write them correctly. His fussing got really bad that I just stopped and put him down for a nap. He fussed long enough for me to dial a friend and have her pick up. He was out fast. And he slept long and hard. He slept a good hour and forty-five minutes. I know that if I had him nap before doing his homework, I would probably get a little more work from him, but normally, by the time he wakes up, it is supper time, then bed routine time…

He is still very much in need of his naps. I honestly wonder if he will ever get out of nap time. Xavier was the longest to nap, but by mid Kindergarten, he was out of them.. And here Derric is, napping all the way to first grade. And getting this kid to learn to spell… Oh man this will be interesting! I know he can do it, but I just don’t think I can.

Well, this has rambled long enough. Think I will just call it a day. I need supper myself and I need to get little man to bed. But first, reading time.

The days are getting shorter, the nights darker. Ahh, the fall/winter time has finally arrived. We have been sitting in the low to mid 60s all week, which kinda sucks when all the heavy jackets are in need of new.

My iPhone has not arrived yet, which I knew it wouldn’t, but my computer is slowly dieing even more. I can not afford to take it in to get worked on right now, and I have no clue how much longer it will hold out. About all I can do is get on line now, I can work a little with my office programs, but it requires me to save after every edit because you never know when it will crash. There is no form of copy and paste still, which makes some matters really annoying.  It would be nice to have the iPhone so I can keep better tabs on the kids and school.

I have gotten myself into a decent routine, I get up with the husband, make him breakfast, and pack his bag. He heads to work, and I get about 10 minutes of quiet before Derric is up. I spend about 5 mins hold and cuddling him before I need to get the kids up. Getting them up an hour and a half before school starts is working much better than letting them sleep that extra 30 minutes. They are more awake when we head to the schools.

After walking the kids to school, and getting Derric situated with his aid in the morning, I come home, get myself a small breakfast, then curl up in bed with a good movie and my crocheting. No I will not say what it is… it be a surprise for my Tori in Az!! So ha!

By the time the movie is over (with many stops for walking around and lunch), it is time to head to the schools and get the kids.

We come home and I call them each one at a time for me to look through homework folders/agendas. I ask about their days (and much to teacher’s amusements) leave notes in their agendas. As long as they can give me a good run down of classes/days, they get a silly face and sticker. By collecting these, they get a star on a chart, which entitles them to 15mins of any form of electronic play over the weekend. (And to verify, I have daily emails from teachers!!! So they can’t lie to me)

I have some more indepth writing to do, but right now I need to get dressed and start my coffee.. The morning is going by while I am curled up at my computer. I will write more, much more, later… Probably tomorrow.

    A Lazy 3 Day Weekend.

This has been a very lazy weekend. The Husband had weekend Duty on Saturday, a report hour of 0800. After getting his stuff ready for him, I curled back up in bed. He left and I crashed. I was woken up by a very hyper and happy puppy because the Husband was back home… The time? 0938. Wow! That was his shortest shift in history!!!

So now what was the plan for the day? Curl up and cuddle!! Damn, that is something I haven’t done in a long time.

We were supposed to head to Wine Fest at Burnkcastle. Asked one friend if her family was going, got told no, not her thing (Only to find out later, they did go… ). Went to get a hold of another friend, but couldn’t.

I ended up taking a nap and sleeping until 5pm. That felt really good! We decided to go catch G.I. Joe at the theater. Good movie. Let the older three sit where they wanted, which of course they sat with friends. The Husband, Little Man, and I sat and watched the movie together. About half way through it, Little Man started to get bored of sitting. Knew he wouldn’t sit through the whole thing, but forgot my headphones that would let him watch my iPod. All but Daughter loved the movie. Daughter said she spent most of the time trying not to scream. Asked her why and she said it was scary… Scary? *shrugs*

Sunday was commissary day! The day of grocery shopping. The day I spend anywhere from $400 to $600 at once on food supplies that will last me all of two weeks. Not a day I enjoy.

Started unloading and putting the groceries away and realized, I forgot food! And stuff I needed for supper!!!! Gave Daughter some money and had her head back up to get it, but she couldn’t find all of it. Once I was done putting everything away, I headed up and found the missing items. Came back home and got to wrapping potatoes for the oven.

We had a lovely BBQ and I spent most of the night fighting with my computer. I keep getting the Blue Screen of Death when I play Sim City 4. I can’t find my old SimCity to see if it also blue screens, and so far it is only SimCity that does. Which really annoys me, as that was the game I have been wanting to play!

Today, is just another lazy day. With nothing really to do, a place to go, or people to hang out with. The Husband’s shift has been moved yet again, and not in the direction I was hoping. But this new shift will mean I get up earlier and might actually make it to the gym! Eeeks lol. I need to.

This is a very blah post today.

Oh, I know what will add a little to it! I get to get an iPhone!!! I am sooo happy. Once Apple gets the iPhone 3GS to the T-Punk store, I can pick it up. And the best part? I get it for free!!! For renewing my 2 year contract. I am sooo very excited. It could take up to 4 weeks, or longer to get it, but just the fact that I get an iPhone, and it can get unlocked to be used in the states. I am happy. With both the iPod Touch and the iPhone, I be having lots of games to play. Now if only there was a phone Kevin liked also, one that he could get the google calendar on… But it would need to be a slide or flip phone… Think I am going to go browse t-Mobile’s website for phones….

    Attitudes Galore!

I was having a very nice quiet day today. I got some crocheting done on a wrap, did some reading, playing with my iPod, and managed to organize papers from the first day of school. I got my kids’ class schedules down, along with teachers and such. My day was going good.

Got the husband up early so we could cuddle and chat, then off to work he went. One of the families in our stairwell is in the process of moving out, so we have had a moving truck out front and movers going up and down the stairs all day.

    An average day.

I head over to get the kids.

Derric is the first one out. I get a quick run down on his morning from his aid and a thumbs up for the rest of the day from his teacher.

Xavier follows close behind, and I get that he had a good day. Good. He did have to write a note on why he wishes to do morning announcements. So I asked the question, Why does he? He honestly didn’t know! “But that is ok, he has all night to think of a reason…..” uhm…. why did you ask in the first place? Oh that is write, he wants to be popular so he thinks this will do it for him. Sorry Xavier, no, every 4th grader gets the chance, nothing makes it more popular. If I remember correctly, every 4th grader does it, want to or not….

With two in tow, I head to the middle school… all of 20 steps away lol (no, there are more, but not much)

Dokota is out first and we get a run by from Kauchana as she heads to a teacher for a sign off. Dokota is in a good mood. I figure good, an easy day! Get home, start supper simmering, and get homework done! Maybe even some outside play time….

Then Kauchana comes back out. She is pissed off and pissy. She forgot to get 2 teachers to sign her agenda, so now she has to be at school early. No big deal! But this girl has taken as a personal insult and crying up a storm. How dare the teachers call her on not doing what she is required to do…

The walk home turned into attitude city. I asked Xavier if he had thought of his reason yet, and was getting “because I want to” “it sounds like fun”. Dokota, being the “know it all” decides those are not good enough reasons and starts getting onto Xavier. So I get on to Dokota. Kauchana trails behind, still very much pissy.

Get in the house and Derric goes wild. Jumping here and there, running up and down the halls.

I work on Xavier’s folder, have him work on his assignment.

Dokota’s agenda was pretty easy. Went over his day and what he did in classes.

Kauchana’s turn turned into a nightmare. Now that Dokota had nothing to do, he decided to see how annoying he could be to Kauchana. Mimicing teachers, her, her actions, etc. I asked him to leave, he wouldn’t. Told him to walk Freya, again, he refused. I was very close to strangling the child by the time I finished with Kauchana.

Both Kauchana and Dokota refused to walk Freya after school, which they are supposed to do. So I had to because the poor dog was whining pretty bad.

It was attitude city in my house all afternoon. It got so bad, I couldn’t hear the husband when he called, so I had to close the door to my room just to hear, but even then I could hear it all still…

So I separated the kids. Each child to their room, Derric into my bed since he shares a room with Xavier, and everyone take a 30 minute quiet break. Derric crashed hard and the others came out with better attitudes. Supper was done and the nightly chores started. Down to the last couple of things. Showers and then bed!

Tomorrow is going to be an early and busy day.

After school today, I took the kids to the big park on base. It was a fight to get Derric to go, one that resulted in him having a major meltdown and crying fit. I think four years in an apartment wasn’t that great for him, he doesn’t like going outside now. It is such [...] […]
