    Friday Fun

    Friday Fun: The Blog Edition

    1. What different blog formats have you used (i.e. Blogger, LiveJournal, WordPress, your own HTML, etc.? Which did you like the best?
I started out in regular HTML and a Notepad. Then I found Blogger, heard that it could go into a website, but found it worth more trouble then not. Went back to HTML/Notepad until Greymatter. I loved it, but it had a simple problem of not stopping spam. I hated dealing with the spam comments. I moved over to OpenDiary.com and stayed with them for a couple years, then found wordpress. I have been with wordpress pretty much ever since. I did try out LiveJournal and liked them, but I hated writing in so many places… I have tried many different blogging places trying to find a “safe” place to blog.

    2. How did you get into blogging? How long have you had a blog?
I started blogging when I got pregnant with my little man to keep family involved. I also had a family “blog” to let Jen know how the kids were, but that got taken down because she never went to it, instead lurked on mine. I really got into blogging when Kevin got deployed and he was able to read, and that was March of 2003.

    3. Why do you blog?
I blog because it is what I enjoy. I enjoy writing and what better thing to write about, then my life. I blog to vent, to keep family involved, to clear my mind.

    4. Do you have theme blog (i.e. crafting, cooking, deployment, pregnancy, etc.) or is it all in one?
My blog is a combination of everything… I will blog about being a step-family, I will be a “mommy” blog, I will blog about military, or anything else that comes to mind when I sit to write… That is why I have sooo many different categories.

    5. Do you let it all hang out on your blog, or do you keep it light?
For public viewing, I lighten it a little… I let loose a little more in the “membership” section, and I really vent in totally private sections. Sometimes I let more hang out then normal when I really get into a writing mood, but normally, I try to keep things leveled.

    6. What is your favorite thing about your blog? What has it given you?
That my friends visit me here. Even thou they hardly venture from the OpenDiary site where we all met, they have ventured out and have connected with me here… What has it given me, their love…..

    Morning? What is Morning?

    Take this test!

Maybe you work the late shift. Or perhaps you’re a confirmed night owl. Whatever the case, you’re typically off in dreamland come daylight. For late risers like you, the snooze button just isn’t going to cut it. When that alarm goes off, you’d rather get a few more hours of sleep in than get up.

We’d guess you’re at your most productive later in the day rather than first thing in the morning. While some people can function on minimal hours of sleep, perhaps you need a little extra shuteye. After all, extra beauty sleep could be just what the doctor ordered. So dream on, sleepyhead!

    So Not the Domestic Goddess

Why is it every time I try to do the domestic house wife thing, something always comes along to ruin a good thing? Today I planned to scrub the kitchen down so I could put raw chicken out for dinner. I planned on making a huge pan of Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo with garlic bread sticks and a glass of wine. The full plan was to:

    • take the Robots dvd back to the shoppette
    • look for the cork stopper for the wine bottle
    • Pick up pool supplies at the BX
    • Pick up fettuccine and bread sticks from the commissary
    • head off base to Sam’s Club for the wine

After school today, I took the kids to the big park on base. It was a fight to get Derric to go, one that resulted in him having a major meltdown and crying fit. I think four years in an apartment wasn’t that great for him, he doesn’t like going outside now. It is such [...] […]
