    My Computer Hates Me

So, I thought my computer was on the mend… Until today, at least.

No, now my computer no longer copies or pastes, or drags and drops icons, folders, or files. Which kinda sucks.

Tired of everything, I decided I just want to reformat. Yhea, not happening for a while. I still have files I need off the hard drive that has my operating system….. Fuck!

I am thinking of seeing about taking it to the repair shop on base to have a look at it…. And all I want to do is journal, craft, print, and play games.

    I miss my computer!!

    Meat & Potatoes

The weather has turned cool again. Last week it had warmed up pretty decently, and I almost thought we would have nice weather for Halloween. But then Sunday hit. Temps dropped and it has started to get wet again. It is raining pretty decently today, with wind blowing. I am torn on what to do for picking up the kids. It is cold enough and the wind is pretty good to warent my cloak, but the rain wont be too good for it. Tis fun time of year.

I made up a pot of beef stew last night. By the time Kevin left for work, it was ready, so dished him up two bowls of stew. After walking the kids to school, I was chilled to the bone, so had a good bowl for breakfast. Amazingly, it just fit, having meat and potatoes for breakfast.

I have been doing lots of work on the computer, just about got it all set back up, a bit more organized. I did loose some things, stuff I will never get back without paying for it all again…. Pretty pissed about all that stuff lost. All of it my web graphics and templates, edited stuff for my blog, the family website, and the travel site… Thankfully I still have my pictures, but I lost everything else. Leson learned, don’t creat the folder on the desktop, create it somewhere on the hard drive and place it on the desktop….

    What happened…

My computer had started to run really slow and choppy, it was really bad. Something that should only take a couple seconds to upload was taking minutes. So I figured I would reboot the computer, give it a bit of rest off for a while, then turn it back on to run some scans. Only it never restarted. It got cought in the boot process, saying a file was missing. Nothing I did was able to get it to start up. Finally I found that I could copy the file from the XP disk, only, I couldn’t remember the dang Admin password for the computer. I didn’t think we set one, but nothing I did was letting me in to copy the file. So I did the unthinkable. I reinstalled Windows XP. I didn’t reformat, that would have lost all the files on the hard drive, instead, I just deleted and reinstalled the XP files. If it had the choice of just reinstalling without deleting, I would have done that, but it didn’t, so I didn’t.

I spent until 1am Monday morning getting the computer back up and running enough that I could spend Monday working on hooking files back to where they belong and what not. Only, my second hard drive wasn’t being visable! It was visible in the boot up, visible everywhere, except under My Computer to access it… I spent most of Monday trying to hook it back to place. Comands were failing, etc. The drivers were missing…. *Slap hand to forhead* duh. Got that back and now I needed service packs.. Did you know Service Pack 1 is no longer available? I sure didn’t. Service Pack 2 wouldn’t install without it. Finally found Service Pack 1a and that allowed SP2 to install… Then on to SP3. I think right around 10pm or maybe it was 9:30, somewhere around there I got everything installed, holding off on the rebooting until I knew I had it all back into place. Then I did my restart…. Talk about a never ending shut down LOL.

Besides a few things out of place, my computer is pretty much back into place. I got email back, only missing all emails past last week, so anything with passwords for blogs, I don’t have. Found a couple blogs just by title searching, which allowed me to follow trails back to a few of the blogs I like to read. I got about 10 of the 35 back. Good time to rebuild the whole blog list lol.

Today was spent rebuilding iTunes…. Thankfully I had all my music on my second hard drive. The ONLY thing I lost was my audiobooks, but those are saved on the website so I just logged in and redownloaded them. I haven’t finished rebuilding my music library. I would say about half way. I just had to take a break. Might finish here soon so when Kevin gets home we can redo the playlists on the iPod that is in the truck.

Thanks to the deal I made with Kevin, I don’t get a new iPod, since he took over mine. Knew I should have gotten him one for his birthday or father’s day…. Gut told me to. Should have followed the gut.

Not much else going on. Have a couple meetings this week for Derric…. all in all, besides the computer crashing, not much going on.

The Best Husband in the World

Things here have been very hectic. Besides Kevin being on leave, he has been taking his new troop and spouse around. Helping me study for my driver’s test, getting involved with the local bike chapter, and getting ready for the bike ready for inspection, it has been a very long and hectic week. There has been so many things going on, I have started to lose track of days, times, and just about everything else in the world…

Saturday was an interesting day. It started out with me in a very bad mood, but ended with me in a good mood. I got a couple more boxes unpacked, Kevin made stroganoff.

    *Insert Title Here*

So, I am on a no title bing right now. Nothing seems to fit.

Anyway, my day. It was a bit on the stressful side today. Mostly since I just didn’t want to get up, Derric jumping around his room on those foam puzzle floor mats, Dogs whining to get let out… All the normal jazz of a typical morning in my house.

Had a nice surprise, Kevin got up and actually spent the day with me. We went by the bx, all the boys needed hair cuts, so got that done. Took a look at pool supplies, the bx didn’t have any pool brooms. Headed to the computer store off base, got me a new video card. It is yummy! Also got two new case fans for my computer since my last two died on me. These new ones are cool blue lit lol.

After school today, I took the kids to the big park on base. It was a fight to get Derric to go, one that resulted in him having a major meltdown and crying fit. I think four years in an apartment wasn’t that great for him, he doesn’t like going outside now. It is such [...] […]
